Stretching and conditioning is an important part of dance practice. It helps us get stronger and more flexible so that we can progress faster, perform better, and makes us less likely to get injured. It's important to do some let stretching and conditioning before we practice but it is also important that we try to add more intense stretching and conditioning to our regular weekly practice.

Stretching and conditioning before practice:

Stretching and conditioning before practice is meant to warm you up and make you feel mobile. For this purpose I would suggest running on the spot, doing a quick pike stretch, 20 sit ups, 20 Russian twists, and finishing with a cobra stretch.

For more intense stretching and conditioning I like to follow along to videos. Some of my favourites are listed below:

Kathryn Morgan- Former NYCB dancer

This link is to her workouts and exercises playlist, if you scroll down in the playlist you will see lots of great videos to follow along to. If you go to her YouTube page you can also find many other videos such as full classes, tips and tricks for dancers, and more.

MadFit

These are not ballet style workouts but she does great workout videos and stretch videos that you can do at home with few or no accessories.
