OBJECTIVE

I am a recent graduate of the University of Ottawa, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dance CBTS program, and life long lover of dance hoping to give back to my community by helping children enjoy the arts in a safe and fun environment. Most of my work experience is in the field of education, however, this has aided me in more ways than just honing my teaching skills. It has helped me with my organizational skills. Additionally, my time as an educator has aided me in developing my customer service skills as well as teaching me to have patience in overcoming new challenges.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

VIOLIN AND VIOLA TEACHER, LONG & MCQUADE; OTTAWA, ON — 2022-PRESENT

Music teacher responsible for creating lesson plans tailored to individual students, preparing students for recitals, and attending to the daily duties of being a teacher.

BALLET TEACHER, CAPITAL CITY DANCE; OTTAWA, ON — 2016-PRESENT 

Ballet teacher/assistant teacher responsible for helping to prepare students aged 4-18 for their ballet exams, choreographing recital pieces, preparing weekly lesson plans, attending to the daily duties of being a teacher. 

 

SKATING COACH, RECREATIONAL SKATING SCHOOL; OTTAWA, ON — 2012- 2021 

Speed skating coach/learn to skate coach, Tom Brown Arena and Brewer Park speed skating oval. Responsible for: preparation of lesson plans, teaching, assessing students and preparation of report cards. 

 

DANCE INSTRUCTOR, PAT CLARK COMMUNITY CENTRE; OTTAWA, ON- SUMMER 2019 

Dance instructor responsible for preparing lesson plans, providing a safe and fun learning environment for students aged 4-10. Additionally, working with young students who spoke neither English nor French.

Customer service representative speaking with and assisting the public, handling cash and reconciling daily revenue, and managing front desk tasks.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE OR LEADERSHIP

Volunteer teacher at Orkidstra for ETAP program- 2020-2021

As a student at the University of Ottawa I was given the opportunity to participate in a practicum with Orkidstra. This program allowed me to develop my skills as a private lesson teacher, observe group lessons, and learn how to manage new challenges as we completed our sessions online.

Volunteer assistant ballet teacher at Capital City Dance- 2015-2016

Assistant teacher responsible for helping to prepare students aged 4-18 for their ballet exams and help the teacher with classroom management.

 

Volunteer assistant skating coach- Recreational Skating School- 2010-2012

Volunteer assistant speed skating coach at Tom Brown arena responsible for demonstrating exercises, teaching and encouraging students, and helping with class management.
